Privacy policy
How we handle your information
Last updated 21 October 2026. This policy explains what personal information Safeguard Forensic & Biohazard Services Africa collects through this website, why, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
Safeguard Forensic & Biohazard Services Africa (“Safeguard”, “we”, “us”) provides forensic, biohazard, CBRN, infection prevention and control, and related specialist services from Nairobi, Kenya, serving Africa. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website. We follow the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya and the rules made under it.
2. What we collect
We collect only what is needed to respond to you.
- Enquiry form: your name, organisation (optional), email address, phone number, the service you are interested in, and the message you write.
- Emergency request form: your name, phone number, location, and an optional description of what is happening.
- When you contact us directly by phone, WhatsApp or email: your number or address, and what you tell us.
- Basic visit information collected automatically: the pages viewed, the website you came from, approximate location (country and city), device type, browser, operating system, and page performance measurements. This is anonymous statistical data.
We do not run user accounts, take online payments, or ask you to create a profile on this website.
3. Sensitive information
Please do not put sensitive details about victims, patients, deceased persons or ongoing investigations into the website forms. Tell us only enough to understand the situation, such as the type of service and the location. We will collect any further detail directly by phone, in person or through a secure channel agreed with you.
4. Cookies and analytics
This website does not set cookies and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how many people visit and how fast pages load. These tools do not use cookies and do not store an identifier on your device. They count visitors with a short-lived, anonymous hash that cannot be used to identify you or follow you across other websites.
The only thing we save on your device is a small record in your browser’s local storage showing that you have agreed to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, with the version and the time, so we do not ask you again on every visit. It is not used to track you, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data.
Fonts are served from this website itself. If you tap the WhatsApp button or a phone or email link, you leave this website and the app or service you open handles your information under its own policy.
5. How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry or emergency request, including calling you back to confirm details.
- To prepare quotations, arrange assessments or deploy a response team.
- To keep records of our services and to meet legal, safety and professional obligations.
- To keep this website secure and working well, and to understand how it is used.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
6. Our lawful basis
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, we process your personal information on these bases:
- Performance of a contract. This is our main basis. We use your details to respond to your request, prepare a quotation and deliver the services you engage us for, and to take the steps you ask for before a contract is signed.
- Compliance with a legal obligation, for example keeping records and cooperating with authorities where the law requires it.
- Our legitimate interests in keeping this website secure and working well, using anonymous statistics only.
If we ever need to ask for your consent for something else, we will say so clearly, and you may withdraw it at any time.
7. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed and only with:
- Our website hosting and analytics provider, Vercel Inc., which processes website traffic and form submissions on our behalf.
- Providers that help us deliver messages to our team, such as email and SMS services.
- Professional advisers, insurers and partners who help us deliver a service you have asked for, under confidentiality obligations.
- Government or law-enforcement bodies, courts and regulators, where the law requires or permits us to.
8. Transfers outside Kenya
Our hosting provider operates servers in several countries, so information you submit may be processed outside Kenya. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, as required by the Data Protection Act, such as contractual protections with the provider.
9. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details only as long as needed to deal with your request and any resulting engagement, and for as long as the law, insurance or professional rules require us to keep records. After that we delete or anonymise them. Anonymous analytics statistics may be kept longer.
10. Security
This website is served over HTTPS, and access to the information we receive is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please use the phone for anything urgent or highly sensitive.
11. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to:
- be told how your personal information is used;
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, or object to or restrict how we use it, where the law allows;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To use any of these rights, email info@safeguard-africa.com. We will reply within the time the law allows. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner of Kenya (odpc.go.ke).
12. Children
This website is intended for organisations and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children through it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Material changes will be shown on this page.
